Admissions FAQ

Review our frequently asked questions about the admissions process, requirements and important information

My child does not speak French; will he/she have success at Westboro Academy?

Our full-time JK and SK programs allow children to have the opportunity to be in a French environment for the entire day. Listening to, and having fun in French allows them to build their vocabulary and create a positive experience while learning the new language. For older grades, we have a French Student Success Teacher to help children one-on-one or in small groups when they need help with language proficiency skills. By the time they graduate, students have reached an advanced level of French.

As a parent, I don’t speak French; how will I get feedback regarding the classes taught in French and how can I support my child with his/her homework in French?

Our teachers are used to have parents who don’t speak French. We will send reports in English as needed so that you are fully aware of the progress made through the curriculum.  Children can benefit from the supervised homework period in French from 3:15pm to 3:45pm twice a week, as well as the support of the French resource teacher.

What if I want to wait until grade 1 to register my child?

In grade 1, students build a French vocabulary that enables them to understand and speak in sentences. This vocabulary, which has been learned during the JK and SK program, makes it easier for them to read and understand what they are reading in the grade 1 French class.

How does the application process work for out-of-town and international families?

We welcome out-of-town (domestic and international) applications.  In lieu of in-person assessment visits for the students, we can arrange to have assessment tests sent to a proxy, and interviews are done via video chat.

Do you offer Before and After Care Services?

Our Before and After School Programs have a reputation for excellence, convenience and quality. Westboro families enjoy having their children in our care, knowing they are in a safe, enriching and productive environment. The program can be used on an “as needed” basis, making it cost-effective and convenient for families.  The Before Care Program begins at 7:30 am. The cost is $8 per morning per child. The After School Program runs from 3:45 pm and ends at 5:30 pm. The cost is $15 per afternoon per child.
