Grades 7-8
Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong study skills in preparation for high school.
Supporting Students’ Academic and Social Transition
Middle school is a time of transition. Students have increasing needs for academic and social independence and they approach their work with greater autonomy. We recognize these traits and have designed the middle school program to meet the unique needs of the students.
Learning and Life Skills in the Middle School
All curriculum areas are applied to today’s world and our society by direct links to current events. Personal relevance and application to real-world situations form an important part of the studies at this level.
New courses are introduced to help students succeed with the increasing academic demands and to prepare them for high school and postsecondary education. In grade 7, students take part in the course “Study and Organizational Skills”. In grade 8, the preparation course “Getting Ready for High School” is designed to help students succeed both socially and academically with their transition.
Students at this level are able to take on greater responsibility: they can develop leadership skills by participating in the Student Council, being House Captains, Admissions Ambassadors, tutors and more. Our goal is to promote team spirit, collaboration and a commitment to fulfill responsibilities.
Grade 7 and 8 students develop foundational skills that will prepare them for the next chapter in their education at High School.
